Central is this region is the cozy village Grindelwald.
Surrounded by stunning nature, with many famous mountain ranges include the Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau, Wetterhorn and Finsteraarhorn.
They also call it "Top of Europe", because most mountains surrounding the village are over 12.000 feet (4000 m.)
Located in a sheltered valley, Grindelwald has a sunny climate and gives in the winter the best snow guaranty.
Grindelwald has maintained the original Swiss hospitality throughout the years. The local people are down to earth and vey friendly. Most speaks besides German also English.
The region invites for a active lifestyle. Not only for sportive youngsters but also the older ones find a peaceful place to enjoy the mountains.

During the summer months:
The Jungfrau region consists of an almost countless number of hiking trails with a total distance of more than 500 km; You can do trips which takes you a whole day (or more) or you can take a train or gondola up (and down) and do some relaxed walking high in the mountains.
For the sportive visitors there are also many special mountain bike routes through the beautiful mountains; For the ones with a lesser condition there are also e-bikes for rent.
Motorcyclists will feel themselves in bikers paradise. The famous mountain passes Susten, Furka and Grimsel are nearby; By the way; the hosts are experienced bike riders so they can help you with the most beautiful scenic routes;
Besides the before mentioned one can choose to go; paragliding, water rafting, mountain climbing, all is within reach.
During the winter months:
The Jungfrau ski area offers you 214 km of slopes in every category; Grindelwald's elevation is 1.050m. and the ski area goes up to 2.950m. Snow cover is mostly from November till late May.
There are more than 100 km. of special sledging (toboggan) trails including the longest (15 km) in Europe. This toboggan riding is something not to be missed !! Everybody can do it, young and old, it's the biggest fun you had in years.
Looking for a more relaxing way to enjoy the snow covered mountains ?
There are over 150 kilometers prepared winter walking trails.
The main railway station is in the center of the village, where local trains will transport you quickly to an unprecedented hiking and skiing area.
Close to Chalet Claudina (3 minutes by foot) is the Männlichen gondola which goes up to 2300 meter.
Within 5 minutes walk from Chalet Claudina is the train station Grund, where the cog railway provides a "lift" to bring you to the world's highest railway station (3,454 m), on top of the Jungfraujoch.
Through the intermediate station Kleine Scheidegg (2061m.) you can also can pick a connecting train to the neighboring valley with the places Wengen, Lauterbrunnen and Murren.
In the village center (10 minutes walk) is the First gondola with transportation to the altitude of 2,200 m.
There are also excellent bus routes throughout the village with the closest busstop only 2 minutes away from Chalet Claudina.

Must to do's:
The 100 year old train route to the highest train station in the world atop the Jungfraujoch (3454 m.) This drive goes through a tunnel into the Eiger mountain and comes out on top of the Aletsch glacier which is all year round snow covered.
The famous revolving restaurant of the famous James Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". This restaurant is located at 2,970 meters and in good weather, one may see the Alps from France to Austria.
Except Grindelwald the nearby Interlaken offers plenty of shopping facilities.
Culinary:
There are many (+/- 40) excellent restaurants in the village of Grindelwald, and even close by one can find a by Michelin rewarded restaurant.
By car:
Depending on where you start. For example: Amsterdam is about 950 km. So 9 hours traveling time. There is for example a route through Antwerp-Brussels-Luxembourg-Strasbourg-Basel-Bern-Interlaken. Similarly via Venlo Koblenz-Karlsruhe-Basel-Bern-Interlaken.
All the way till Interlaken you have autoroute. From there its only 16 km normal main road left to Grindelwald
By train: is Grindelwald easily accessible.
From Amsterdam with ECE via Basel to Interlaken.
There you change to the local train to Grindelwald. The total journey time from Amsterdam to Grindelwald is only 9 hours
By plain:
there are daily scheduled flights from Amsterdam to Bern (the capital of Switzerland) done by Skywork airlines. The travel time for this flight is only 1.5 hours.
Or to Basel airport on which you take a train to Grindelwald
